Environmentally friendly printing

Windsor Jennings spent 20 years working out of a converted farm in the beautiful Kent countryside, so looking after our environment is very important to us. More and more of our clients are asking for environmentally friendly print options. Here are our tips for helping reduce your carbon foot'print':

 1)    Plan ahead – get your designer to work closely with us on the print side – we can make suggestions to make your job greener. For example, we can help get the best use out of the paper, combine jobs to reduce energy usage, make suggestions for the optimum ink coverage and discuss varnishes and other coatings that either make your document more recyclable or longer lasting.

2)    Request environmentally preferable paper and inks – chlorine free paper with a post consumer fibre content and low polluting inks such as soy inks or vegetable inks rather than petroleum based ones

3)    Avoid non-standard sizes for your document to avoid paper wastage

4)    Consider incorporating your covering letter in your document to reduce the need for more paper or create ‘self-mailers’ which don’t need a separate envelope

5)    Work with printers that use renewable energy such as solar or wind power and use those that use waterless printing systems

6)    Avoid bagging your documents and any unnecessary packaging

We are always happy to help where saving the world is concerned, so give us a shout if you’d like a quote or some advice on greener printing.
